What is Library Express?
LIBRARY EXPRESS is a project of the Manitoba Library Consortium Inc. It is designed to enhance and facilitate access to the resources of a wide variety of libraries by providing clients with timely delivery of these materials. Libraries who participate in Library Express have agreed to respond to all requests received from participating institutions within a 48 hour period. Within the City of Winnipeg, a shared courier service expedites cost effective delivery of materials between libraries. Express service to libraries outside the City of Winnipeg is provided using mail, fax or Ariel delivery.
How to Join Library Express
Winnipeg members of the Manitoba Library Consortium may wish to join Library Express Courier Service on a daily service or a call in basis, depending upon volume and need. Daily service participants pay a flat monthly rate for pick ups and deliveries and are placed on a regular daily schedule. Call in service participants pay on a per trip basis for the pick up and the return of any materials they request. A small monthly administration fee is charged for invoicing. The Consortium provides participating libraries with red delivery boxes and yellow cloth bags for transport of materials as well as address label masters to facilitate the preparation of shipments.
Consortium members interested in joining Library Express should send email to manitobalibraryconsortium@gmail.com.
While the Library Express courier delivery service presently operates only within the city of Winnipeg, rural members of the Manitoba Library Consortium may also participate in Library Express. Delivery outside the perimeter will be via Canada Post, fax or Ariel transmission depending upon the materials required. Courier delivery of rush materials may also be arranged at the requestor’s cost.
